Tournament Updates

Rules and Regulation Updates:

  • College Rules with current Modifications 
  • Total of 4 timeouts
  • Unlimited Advance Ball Under 2 minutes with Timeouts
  • 18 mins halves – running time
  • 1st half full running unless Timeout
  • 2nd half – final 2 minutes stop time
  • 6 individual Fouls
  • 7 team fouls for 1 and 1
  • 10 team fouls for double bonus (2 shots)

Each team must register all players that will participate in the tournament, including full name, date of birth, and email address. Each player must agree to the Terms and Conditions, which include the [popup_anything id=”1972″].

Roster Approval by board:
Eligibility:
    • Players must be 25% Asian descent
    • Background check and decisions made by tourney board and committee is final
    • Burden to prove eligibility is on player, player must provide documentation and evidence to meet the satisfaction of the board and committee.
    • Only Players on the 12 man roster may participate.
    • Finals Rosters will be due two weeks before the Tourney.
    • Players can only participate in one division.
    • If player is not on roster and participates, team will forfeit that game because that ineligible player participated.
    • Teams must have matching colors and numbers on jerseys/shirts, PLEASE NOTE: Must have TWO SETS OF COLORS. (If team fails to adhere to jersey rules, penalties will be assessed and maybe lead to a possible forfeit of game)

Every team that makes it to the finals will be participating in our next tournament for free.

Compete for North America’s Largest Championship prize ever awarded in an Asian Basketball Tournament! Elite Division Cash Prize: $12,000 USD and Friendship Division Cash Prize: $8,000 USD!

The 1st (First) Annual Asian Heritage Tournament is sought out to bring together our Asian communities, along with those who love the culture globally, to participate in a fun, competitive and educational experience through sports. Featuring a limited pool of teams, the event will be split into two divisions, Friendship and Elite, with the goal of creating parity. With so many Asian sports interest communities spread across the world, our focus is to provide a spotlight on the deep cultural ties between basketball and Asian culture.

The Friendship Division features a cash prize of $8,000 and will headline teams that are looking to participate in exhibition-style games in a casual competitive environment. Players in the Elite Division, will compete for a whopping $12,000, or North America’s largest championship prize ever awarded in an Asian basketball tournament. In this division, the best of the best ballers from across the country and world will showcase and highlight their talents.

Location – Basketball City (at Pier 36) is a 70,000 sq. ft. “state-of-the-art” Sports & Entertainment facility, which contains seven air-conditioned basketball courts with glass backboards, electronic scoreboards, automated video system and first-class locker rooms. The venue also includes a VIP Mezzanine, a 55,000+ sq. ft. parking lot, and a 15,000 sq. ft. deck on the East River overlooking the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges and the Statue of Liberty. Since its inception, Basketball City has been proud to serve the community and provide opportunities and experiences for thousands of kids. As Basketball City celebrated its 20th anniversary this September, its contributions to the community exceeded $700,000 in 2016 and over $2 million for the past 3 years.

Quick Snapshot of Tournament Structure:

  • Randomized Group Pool Games – Officiated by 2 Experienced/Professional Third-party Hired Referees
  • After Pool Play – Teams will be Ranked based on Win/Loss Record – If tied then by Head to Head Match – Then by Greater Point Margins
  • Teams will return Sunday, April 7th, 2019 to compete in Playoffs
  • Each Playoff Game will Officiated by 3 Experienced/Professional Third-party Hired Referees
  • In Playoffs – A Certain Number of Top Ranking Teams will receive a 1st Round BYE
  • Championship Winning Team will be presented with 10 (Ten) Black Marble Wood Finish with Golden 32″ Tall 2019 LunarNYC Basketball Trophies
  • 1 Additional LunarNYC Red Fire Colored White Marble Finish with Golden 20″ Tall MVP Trophy will be handed out to the Most Outstanding Player in the Championship Team   

ENTRY FEE PER TEAM = $800

Prizes and media coverage:

  • Elite Division Grand Prize $12,000 (North America’s largest championship prize ever awarded in an Asian Basketball Tournament).
  • Friendship Division Grand Prize $8,000 (North America’s largest championship prize ever awarded in an Asian Basketball Tournament).
  • 1st Annual LunarNYC T-Shirt, designed by an accomplished Asian designer. This will become a collectible!
  • LunarNYC camera, reporter and media crew coverage for pre and post-game interviews.
  • LunarNYC accessories and prizes will be given out.
  • Pre and Post National press release coverage announcing participating teams, celebrity guest speakers, tournament results, all 1st team LunarNYC tournament roster, LunarNYC MVP in both Friendship and Elite Divisions.

Elite Division Winning Championship Team will be Awarded the Highest Cash Prize in any Asian Basketball Tournament in North American History!

  • Only Players on the 12 man roster may participate.
  • Players can only participate in one division.
  • Registration and Entry Fee must be submitted by March 17th. 
  • Teams must have matching colors and numbers on jerseys/shirts. Must have two sets of colors.
  • If a player not on roster participates, the team will forfeit that game in which the ineligible player participated.
  • Players must be of at least 25% Asian descent. (i.e. One grandparent must be of full Asian descent.) 
  • Fall 2019 – we will have a tournament open for all ethnicities.
